49th Parallel Grocery Store, Ladysmith

The 49th Parallel Grocery was very pleased with the services provided by Lealand Contracting. The work of Jerry and his crew on the framing of the store expansion including the new cafe and towers was done professionally and efficiently. The final look of the building turned out to be exactly what we were hoping for. ~ Peter Richmond, 49th Parallel GroceryWe worked with Brian Childs & Co. of Ladysmith on this major renovation to a local institution.

The 49th Parallel Grocery stores are owned and operated by Wayne and Harmina Richmond who purchased the Ladysmith store in August 1977. The store was approximately 40 years old and totaled 3,000 square feet. In 1989, a new store was constructed next door to the old store and the old one was taken down. This new store is 13,400 square feet, nicely complimenting their Duncan, Chemainus and Cedar stores, and includes the new 49th Cafe.
